TMC: Split-Screen jumped the gun earlier saying Killzone 2 had 72% more head polygon count than Halo:Reach. Surprising information indeed even if it's unfair to compare a complete game to another game still in development. Even more striking is the fact that they tried to compare a random NPC soldier model that it's barely seen in Halo:Reach to a main character from Killzone 2. We can't confirm or deny this information but we can at least tell you that neither can the guys at Split-Screen.com, Why? because we found out that the NPC Reach models they used for their "Article" have absolutely nothing to do with Halo:Reach. Creditably, the only area in which Bad Company 2 demonstrably loses out to its much-hyped rival is visual polish – although it is still a mighty fine looking game, with particularly impressive particle effects allowing realistic desert dust-storms and the like. Sony's PlayStation Network is on the fritz. Microsoft's Xbox Live network has had its problems. Two console generations ago, problems like this would have been inconceivable, or at least wouldn't have had the kind of domino effect they do today. The current PlayStation bug (which is believed to be due to the inclusion of trophies in firmware v2.40) affected games, rented movies, and access to both Netflix streaming and the company's online storefront--all things that continue to work without issue for users of the newer PS3 Slim hardware. You'd simply never get this kind of problem back when the only thing you could use your system for was to play something off a disc or a cartridge. [read more]
