If an armor set is sold by a merchant, and it isn’t available yet, you’ll need to upgrade the merchant’s inventory by spending a certain amount of souls there or fulfill other requirements, such as defeating a certain boss. You can mix and match parts from different sets to create your own effective custom armor.
