Cheat:
Statues block your paths at various points. To remove one, you must use a Fragrant Branch of Yore to unpetrify it.
Statues:
Majula
Statue #1 – The first statue blocks the path to your left when you enter. The path leads the way to the Shaded Ruins. When the statue is unpetrified, she can teach you Pyromancy.
The Lost Bastille
Statue #2 – The second statue blocks a path just before Sinner’s retreat. When the statue is unpetrified, it is a mage trainer who will trade you special weapons in exchange for boss souls.
Shaded Woods
Statue #3 – When you reach the bonfire, head straight, then up, and then right to find a Lion statue.
Statue #4 – At the bonfire, jump down from a window to reach another Lion statue. The areas around him area accessible even when he is petrified, so unpetrifying him isn’t mandatory.
Statue #5 – When you get out of the basilisk pit trap, you will reach another Lion statue. If you defeat him, you will get a Fang Key to use to unlock the basilisk pit door.
Fragrant Branches of Yore:
The Harvest Mills
Branch #1 – Defeat the large monster in the first mist pool to clear the way to a cave containing the branch.
Branch #2 – Go left when you reach the Mines bonfire and then take the next left. Another monster like the one in the mist pool will be visible, but turn right before you reach it. Fight the four Butchers you encounter and knock down the wood on the nearby enclaves. The upper second one from the right will contain a path that leads to the branch.
Sinners’ Rise
Branch #3 – On your way to primal bonfire, you will find the branch in a chest after you fight the Sinner.
Shaded Woods
Branch #4 – The chest guarded by Statue #3 contains a branch, among other items.
Brightstone Cove Tseldora
Branch #5 – You can get the next branch after you fight the Spider boss.
Iron Keep
Branch #6 – Enter the room to your right to buy the branch from a merchant.
The Gutter
Branch #7 – The next branch is hidden behind the heart-shaped vases in the starting area.
