Capcom has recently announced what has to be the greatest celebration of one of the most venerable franchises in gaming with an absolutely epic 25th Anniversary Street Fighter Collector’s Edition set. Releasing for Xbox 360 and PS3 on September 18th, the enormous box set includes: Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition, Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition and Street Fighter X Tekken. Every single bit of DLC for Super Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter X Tekken released to date will also be included on the discs, alongside a landslide of other outstanding content. Read on for more details!
Fighting game fans will also be treated to the series’ soundtrack spanning the last 25 years of Street Fighter music over an insane eleven-disc set. But, wait! That’s not all! Capcom is also throwing in a two-disc Blu-ray set, featuring a documentary detailing the franchise’s evolution, the Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV anime movies, the animated Street Fighter II movie, and every single episode of the Street Fighter anime series. As if that wasn’t enough, the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collector’s Edition includes a beautifully detailed 64-page artwork book, 8-inch Ryu statue (that lights up!) a Ryu martial arts belt that will actually fit a human being, and an absolutely pointless certification of ownership to, I don’t know, frame on your wall.
I know what you’re wondering: “How much is this all going to set me back?” I’m happy to report that the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collector’s Edition (which is a name that is almost as long as the games themselves) will retail for a totally reasonable $149.99 US dollars. Alongside this purely fan service announcement, Capcom also mentioned its 25th Anniversary series of tournaments over the remainder of the year, with over $500,000 in prizes up for the taking. The competition will include Street Fighter X Tekken, Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition, and Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. Better hit up training mode!
