The next generation Xbox is called Xbox One and was revealed by Microsoft just one hour ago at their #XboxReveal event in Redmond. Technical specs are as follows:
- 8 core AMD CPU
- 8 GB system memory
- 500 GB HDD
- Blu-ray drive
- 802.11n Wireless with Wi-Fi Direct
- HDMI In/Out
- USB 3.0
No details on the GPU contained in the Xbox One were given (it ill be combined with the CPU on the same chip though). Microsoft said that the console will be released “later this year”.
Also on display were a brand new controller as well as Kinect 2.0. As for backwards compatibility, given the new architecture of the Xbox One, that is a big no. Your Xbox 360 games will not work on the Xbox One.
